Chemung County announces 2026 road projects. Here’s where
Chemung County officials want motorists to be aware of work that will take place on several county-owned roads this summer.
The Chemung County Department of Public Works announced the 2026 road program will include a total of more than 17 miles of rehabilitation and preservation projects that will be conducted on eight county roads this year.
DPW road crews have already started preparation for construction on road projects, including tree trimming and ditch cleaning. Pavement and surface treatments will commence in the summer months.

County DPW officials ask that motorists slow down when they approach and travel through road work zones.
Here is the list of county roads included in this year’s road program and what is happening at each site:
County Route 64: Spot base repair, level with hot mix asphalt overlay, 2.16 miles west of Wells Lane to Commerce Center Road.
County Route 69 (Pennsylvania Avenue): Mill and fill with hot mix asphalt, 1.94 miles from the first roundabout to Orchard Park Road.
County Route 60: Hot mix asphalt overlay, 1.75 miles from Wellsburg-Lowman crossover to Roberts Hollow Road.
County Route 50 (West Dry Brook Road): Hot mix asphalt overlay, 1.6 miles from Dry Brook Road to Rotary Road.
County Route 23 (Mallory Road): Cold-in-place recycle with hot mix asphalt overlay, 1.75 miles from Wyncoop Creek Road to Souls Hill Road.
County Route 56 (River Road): Double chip seal, 1.8 miles from county Route 60 to dead end.
County Route 23 (Dry Brook Road): Double chip seal, 4.8 miles from River Road to Blackburn Hill Road.
County Route 21 (Wygant Road): Double micropave, 1.6 miles from the railroad tracks to Old Ithaca Road.
