Wyoming picks candidates for open governor’s race

Voting ends Tuesday in the Wyoming primaries for Republican and Democratic candidates for governor, an open seat with incumbent Gov. Mark Gordon (R) ineligible for another term.

Wyoming Superintendent of Public Instruction Megan Degenfelder is running with President Trump’s endorsement, which has had a mixed track record this primary season but is still much-coveted among Republican candidates.

Retired U.S. Marine Col. Brent Bien, who came in a distant second place to Gordon in the 2022 GOP primary, is running again now without facing an incumbent and has received the endorsement of the state GOP. State Sen. Eric Barlow and rodeo-production professional Curt Blake are also running in the Republican primary.

Ken Casner, the Democratic candidate for the past two governor’s races in 2018 and 2022, is the sole candidate in the Democratic primary and thus the presumptive nominee.

Polls close at 9 p.m. EDT.
