Have you ever wondered which Wisconsin high school has the highest success rate at getting into the state flagship? Or how many students from your alma mater apply to the University of Wisconsin-Madison?
In an effort to be more transparent, UW-Madison has published this data. Covering the state’s high school graduating class in 2024-25, the dashboard shows how many public high school students graduated from each school, how many of the graduates applied to UW-Madison, how many were admitted and how many enrolled.
The data is also broken down by county.

Why did UW-Madison launch the dashboard?
UW-Madison said the dashboard was created more than a decade ago after the UW Board of Regents lifted a 27.5% cap on out-of-state students. The university is instead expected to enroll at least 3,600 Wisconsin students – a benchmark the university has met each year.
“At the time, there were questions about who could get into UW–Madison and if certain areas of the state were favored,” the university told the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “Having the dashboard show the number of high school graduates across the state as well as application rates helped illustrate where high school graduates were located and if they were applying.”
Do other universities have admissions dashboards similar to UW-Madison’s?
Though other institutions likely have internal reports showing enrollment by high school, UW-Madison said it was unaware of another school that publicly publishes this data in a similar way.
What does the UW-Madison admissions dashboard show?
The dashboard is broken down by county and by public school.
In Milwaukee County, for example, about 1,200 of the 7,700 high school graduates applied, 54% were admitted and nearly 450 students enrolled. Admission by school varies from one student at North Division High to 72 at Reagan College Preparatory High.
The schools with the highest number of students admitted to UW-Madison include Middleton High (180), Madison West High (180), Vel Phillips Memorial High School in Madison (133), Waunakee High (82), Brookfield Central High (82) and Brookfield East High (73).
