A teenager has been convicted of raping a woman in a portable toilet.

Mohammed Abdullah, 19, was found guilty of rape and assault by penetration after attacking the 19-year-old on Bournemouth seafront in the early hours of 6 July 2025.

Abdullah, of West Drayton, west London, had denied the charges, claiming the sex was consensual, but he was convicted following a trial at Bournemouth Crown Court.

Judge Robert Pawson remanded him in custody until his sentencing on 3 July.

Pawson told Abdullah: “On the 5th to 6th July, having come down from London with a group of other young men, by unfortunate circumstances your path crossed [with the victim].

“She had had far too much to drink, it was late at night, she was at the beachfront at Bournemouth and, on a whim, you decided to take advantage of that.

“You deliberately took her further up the beach to the Portaloos which, in my judgment on the evidence, you knew were there and knew they were open.

“You locked her in a Portaloo and you raped her.”

Mark Eldridge, prosecuting, told the trial the woman had been out with a friend in Charminster before they moved on to Bar So in Bournemouth.

He said after having a “fair amount to drink”, she and her friend headed in different directions and the woman began walking home along the seafront.

There, she came across the defendant who was with friends and offered to give her a lift home on his e-bike.

They stopped at the portable toilet where Abdullah sexually assaulted and raped her.

Eldridge said, afterwards, Abdullah rode off while the woman “took her shoes off in order to run”.

She sought help from passers-by, asking to use their phone to call her mother before calling police.

Eldridge said one man who helped her described her as “appearing distressed”.

Det Insp Shaun Inkpen, of Dorset Police’s Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT), praised the woman for “the courage she has shown” in reporting the attack and “for her support and resilience throughout the investigation and justice process”.

“This has been crucial in holding her attacker to account for his despicable actions that night,” he said.

“I hope the bravery she has shown gives other victims of rape and sexual offences the strength to come forward in the knowledge that they will be supported and we will do everything we can to identify and prosecute perpetrators for such serious crimes.”

Abdullah arrived in the UK from Syria in 2023 and was given permanent leave to remain under a family reunion scheme.
