State police have issued a statewide Silver Alert for a missing Muncie man.
Police say 88-year-old James Hill was last seen at 3:45 p.m. on Tuesday, June 16 in Muncie. He’s believed to be in extreme danger and could need medical assistance.
According to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office, Hill a 6-foot, 1-inch white male who weighs 203 pounds and is bald with some gray hair and brown eyes. He was last seen wearing a brown flannel shirt, denim jacket, khaki pants and black shoes.

He was driving a blue 2019 Buick Encore with Indiana license late D237DG.

Amber Alert vs. Silver Alert: What’s the difference?
There are specific standards a person’s disappearance must meet in order for police to declare an Amber Alert or a Silver Alert.
Amber Alerts are for children under the age of 18 who are believed to have been abducted and in danger. Police also need to have information about a suspect and their car to issue an Amber Alert.
Silver Alerts are for missing and endangered adults or children. They are much more common for missing people.
In both situations, these alerts must be issued by police.
