An investigation is underway after a body was discovered along a set of train tracks running through the Cajon Pass on Thursday, authorities said.
Burlington Northern Santa Fe employees first came upon the remains shortly before 10 a.m. July 16, along the tracks near the Cajon Junction, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials.

The victim, initially described only as male, was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The Sheriff’s Specialized Investigations Division responded and are investigating the circumstances,” department spokeswoman Jenny Smith said.
The death was initially being investigated as a possible murder, sheriff’s logs show.
