An Owasso mother died in a murder-suicide after posting allegations about her estranged husband on social media.
Sara Gilson, 43, and Jeremiah Shawn Duffey, 48, were found dead of apparent gunshot wounds on Wednesday, July 23, according to the Owasso Police Department. Investigators say Gilson was shot and killed by Duffey, who then died by suicide.

What police say happened
Owasso police confirmed both Gilson and Duffey were found dead on July 23 after a 911 call in Owasso. Investigators say Duffey shot Gilson and then turned the gun on himself.
Authorities described the deaths as apparent gunshot wounds.
Protective orders and prior allegations
Court records show Gilson was in court about a month before the shooting to explain why she wanted to continue an emergency protective order against Duffey. When the order was first filed, Duffey was told to stay 100 yards away and leave the couple’s home. Case information is posted at oscn.net.
On the same day Gilson sought protection, the mother of a 15-year-old girl filed a separate protective order alleging Duffey, a youth basketball coach, was seen kissing and fondling the teen while alone with her. The filing says another coach walked in; the teen later told her mother Duffey had sent inappropriate messages, invited her to his hotel room on a trip and gave her money “to keep her quiet.” A report was made to Owasso police.
Gilson’s filing echoed those allegations and added that Duffey threatened suicide, “went on the run,” and had a firearm. Records note she previously sought two protective orders in 2021 that were dismissed when she did not appear.
Her TikTok post and support for her children
Shortly before the shootings, Gilson posted a TikTok using a popular documentary-style trend. In on-screen text, she wrote: “Preparing for when Netflix drops a documentary about my soon to be ex husband who I just found out is a pedophile.”
