Gunfire erupted at a food festival in Seattle on Sunday, leaving three people dead and four others injured, including a toddler.
A 15-year-old was detained and booked in connection with the shooting and will make their first court appearance Monday afternoon, Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson said during a news conference on Monday. Authorities had initially said the incident involved two people shooting at each other, but in court documents viewed by the Associated Press and Seattle Times, police now say they believe a third shooter, who was killed in the shootout, was involved.
“Investigators believe [the 15-year-old] and one of the deceased engaged in a gunfight with at least one other unknown suspect,” the document said.

The shooting occurred just after 6 p.m. at Seattle Center during the Bite of Seattle, a popular annual food festival beneath the city’s Space Needle.
Seattle Assistant Police Chief Tyrone Davis said officers providing security at the event heard gunfire in the immediate area and quickly arrested one of the suspects, while the other fled.
Officers then began performing CPR on several of the victims.
No danger to the public, police say

Davis could not offer a description of the suspect who is still at-large and said there were no surveillance cameras in the immediate area where the shooting happened.
“This is a tragedy,” Davis said. “The Bite of Seattle is a very positive event. We haven’t had any issues in recent years.”
Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson also called it “an unbelievable tragedy” and “a horrific act of violence.”
“My heart right now is with the victims and their families and with everyone in our community who is reeling,” she said.
The three people who died were a 19-year-old man, a 44-year-old man and a 56-year-old woman, according to police. Two died at the scene, while a third person was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Three of the four victims who were hospitalized have since been discharged, while the 2-year-old boy is still in the hospital in satisfactory condition, Seattle Fire Department Chief Harold Scoggins said on Monday.
Scoggins added that there may be an additional victim who suffered a gunshot wound during the incident. But he said police have to interview the person, who was discharged from the hospital, to confirm.
Authorities said they know there were people in the immediate area of the shooting who saw what happened. The Seattle Police Department is asking anyone with information to call the tip line at 206-233-5000.
“We need people to be brave, to reach out to us. You can do so anonymously,” Davis said. “We need help to solve this crime.”
