Sobriety checkpoints planned tonight in Plain Township

CANTON – The Stark County Sheriff’s Office, in collaboration with members of the Stark County OVI Task Force, will conduct sobriety checkpoints Aug. 29 in Plain Township, Sheriff Eric Weisburn said.

The first checkpoint will be held from 6 to 8:30 p.m. in the 1800 block of Easton Street NE. The second checkpoint will be held from 8:30 to 11 p.m. in the 2300 block of Columbus Road NE.

“Officers will conduct roadside checks of drivers for alcohol and drug impairment and will be vigilant indetecting and apprehending impaired drivers,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a news release. “Remember: Impaired driving is never acceptable. Always make the responsible choice to plan ahead for a safe, sober ride home.”
