Cheshire crash damages utility poles, closes road and knocks out traffic lights

CHESHIRE – Peck Lane was closed Thursday after a vehicle crash damaged utility poles and wires, police said.

The road was closed to all traffic between Schoolhouse Road to West Johnson Avenue, according to the Cheshire Police Department.

Police also warned that some traffic lights are not working in the west end of town because of the situation on Peck Lane.

“Utilities have been made aware and will work to get things up and running as soon as they can,” police said.

Police said officers are placing temporary stop signs to help move traffic. The department said it is unclear when the lights will be fixed.

Police said officers are on scene assisting drivers with detours and urged motorists to seek alternative routes until the scene is cleared.

“As always, we appreciate your understanding and patience while we work through this unusual situation and will update when we have new information,” police said.
