Construction timeline revealed for new Aldi store opening in DFW area

Aldi, the German multinational grocery store chain, is laying the groundwork for a new store in North Texas. According to a permit with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, Aldi is dropping around $2.75 million for its first store in Anna. Construction is set to begin by the end of 2026.

The new Aldi, which spans 20,529 square feet, will open at 1740 N Central Expressway. According to the permit, which was filed on Sept. 3, construction is set to begin in mid-November and wrap up by June 2027. As always, don’t take that as an opening date.

The new Aldi is among several high-profile tenants for the new Rosamond Town Center, right at the southeast corner of Rosamond Parkway and Highway 75. Academy Sports + Outdoors, EOS Fitness, Hobby Lobby, HomeGoods, PetSmart and other specialty stores have been tapped to join the new development, Big V Property Group announced.

Aldi is no stranger to Texas and already has over 125 stores in the state. Its most recent permit filing comes at a time when the German-based grocer continues to grow across the country.

The Albrecht family founded the first Aldi’s in Germany in 1961. The first U.S. location opened in Iowa in 1976. Since then, the grocery store has grown to more than 2,400 stores across 38 states.

In January, Aldi announced its goal of “doubling down on its nationwide expansion” with plans to open more than 180 stores by the end of 2026.
