Wisconsin plants and foliage finally saw some drought relief Saturday, Aug. 1, as hourslong showers soaked some areas with more than 3 inches of rain.

Prior to Saturday’s dousing, and a storm that brought an EF-3 tornado to the Fox Cities, Wisconsin had been in a prolonged dry spell. As of Sunday, Aug. 2, more than 51% of the state is experiencing “abnormally dry” conditions while just shy of 36% of it is in a “moderate drought,” according to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.

Still the weekend rain was a much needed reprieve, forecasters said. Here’s how much it rained across various southeastern Wisconsin communities on Aug. 1.

Here are rain totals as measured by the National Weather Service:

• Watertown: 3.58 inches

• Delafield: 3.42 inches

• Waukehsa: 2.93 inches

• Madison: 2.52 inches

• Milwaukee: 1.77 inches

• Racine: 1.69 inches

• West Bend: 1.51 inches

• Kenosha: 1.42 inches

• Sheboygan: 0.67 inches

• Green Bay: 0.25 inches
