A Louisville man was arrested after an April 7 shooting in Jeffersontown left one person dead, according to court records.
Adam Thomas, 21, was charged with murder. He is currently being held at Louisville Metro Department of Corrections, online jail records show.
According to an arrest citation, Jeffersontown Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 3000 block of Fir Trail around 7:38 p.m. April 7. When officers arrived, they found a woman who had a gunshot wound in her shoulder. Officers reportedly found a revolver in Thomas’s jacket pocket that contained one spent cartridge in the cylinder.
The woman was taken to a local hospital, where she later died during an emergency surgery.
Thomas told police he and the woman had been watching television and smoking. According to the citation, he said he picked up the gun and tossed it before “it went off.”
Residents of the apartment told police that Thomas “has a habit of removing his firearm” and “pointing it at people in what he believes to be a playful manner,” the arrest citation states. Another resident said they heard Thomas say that “the firearm had misfired immediately after the shooting.”
Thomas is scheduled to appear in court April 8.
