Maylene man killed in Bibb County crash


A 28-year-old Maylene man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Aug. 9 in Bibb County, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency.

Brett M. Whitley died around 10 a.m. when the 2010 Toyota Tundra he was driving left the roadway, struck several trees and overturned, ALEA said Whitley was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash occurred on Bibb County 24 about 2 miles east of West Blocton. Maylene is in Shelby County, about 50 miles northeast of Tuscaloosa.

ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division is investigating. No additional information was immediately available.
