Route 9W through a stretch of Orangetown will be closed to traffic during much of the day on June 4 and June 5, and most of the morning of June 6, according to the New York State Department of Transportation.
The closure will be in both directions from the 9W intersection with Hickey Street in Piermont to Shadyside Avenue in Upper Grandview.
It’s about a 3-mile stretch.
Detours will be posted.
DOT, which is in charge of the work on the state roadway, said the closures are necessary to facilitate maintenance activities. The closures are weather permitting.
When will Route 9W stretch be closed?
The expected hours of closure include:
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, June 4.
9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday, June 5.
7 a.m. to noon Saturday, June 6.
Expect delays around 59 in Spring Valley
Meanwhile, another DOT project has closed a stretch of Route 59 in Spring Valley to traffic Wednesday, June 3.
The closure goes from New Clarkstown Road near the Spring Valley Marketplace to around the Shell station to the west on Route 59.
A detour is posted.
That detour is not only for vehicles. Pedestrians can pick up a complimentary taxi to take them around the construction from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The project was due to wrap up by Labor Day, Sept. 27.
Now signage near the site state that the road will be closed to Oct. 3.
