Two raccoon attacks happened in broad daylight within hours of each other over the weekend in Ridgewood, New Jersey.
A 7-year-old boy bitten in the upper leg on Saturday near Maple Field & Community Garden around 7 p.m. on Saturday. An adult was bitten on Sunday on private property. Both are receiving treatment for rabies as a precaution.
Ridgewood is considering dropping rabies vaccination pellets in wooded areas where animals congregate. Federal agencies have done this for years and say it’s not a danger to other animals and the flavored pellets orally vaccinate wildlife against rabies.

They should also supervise their kids outside, keep pets on a leash and report animals acting strange or aggressive.
