Today the day for verdict or mistrial?

PLYMOUTH ‒ After a dramatic close to yesterday’s proceedings, the Lindsay Clancy jury returns to Plymouth Superior Court Friday morning, Sept. 4, to resume deliberations for a seventh day.

Thus far, the jurors have spent roughly 36 hours trying to reach a unanimous verdict.

On Thursday afternoon, the jury foreperson sent Judge William Sullivan a note which sparked a surprising scene in the courtroom. The note, which was not shared publicly, prompted a lengthy sidebar in which defense attorney Kevin Reddington grew animated and appeared frustrated.

During the sidebar, the 12 jurors were called in individually, swore oaths and spoke with the judge briefly. Then Sullivan called them in as a body and repeated earlier instructions on the prosecution’s burden to prove Clancy’s guilt beyond a reasonable doubt and what reasonable doubt means.
