A suspect is in the Athens-Clarke County Jail following the tragic Mother’s Day slaying of a woman at an apartment home on Chateau Terrace on Sunday.
The victim was identified by Athens-Clarke police as 34-year-old Latisha Andrews.
The shooting was reported at 1:18 p.m. at the complex located off Epps Bridge Road near the Atlanta Highway.
Police have charged Sharod Pontes Greene, 52, with felony and malice murder, along with possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Greene was listed on the jail docket as having an address on Chateau Terrace, but police said his license also had an Elberton address.

Although Greene and Andrews knew each other, the police did not release the nature of their relationship.
Police Lt. Katie Jenkins said Monday that Greene called the police department to report the shooting. Andrews died at the scene, Jenkins said.
