SYRACUSE, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) – Memorial Day weekend is off to a damp start across Central New York. Find out when the rain tapers, and when temperatures warm up again, below…
Latest radar
Rain continues Saturday night
Showers and pockets of steady rain are expected to continue overnight and into Sunday morning. The rain could be heavy at times.
Hour-by-Hour Timecast
This will lead to total rainfall between an inch and an inch and a half for many areas across Central New York by midday Sunday. Despite this, the threat for flooding continues to look low as it has been rather dry over the last week.
Lows are seasonable Saturday night, ending up in the 40s to around 50.
Improving Sunday and especially Monday
As mentioned, there are still some showers in store Sunday morning. Drier conditions look to arrive during the afternoon, but we still expect a good deal of cloud cover. Without much sunshine in the afternoon, it makes it tough to dry out for outdoor picnics. Plus, it is still cool with temperatures in the low to mid 60s instead of the low 70s like we might normally expect this time of year.
A few more showers slide through Sunday night into the start of Monday with a weakening cold front, which will be followed by just a couple of lingering morning showers on Memorial Day. There should be intervals of sun developing on Memorial Day, too, with highs reaching the low to perhaps mid 70s.
