Beaufort County events
Join the Friends of Fort Fremont for a new history program
On Thursday, June 4 at 11 a.m, the Fort Fremont History Center on St. Helena Island will be unveiling a new Mine Planter Diorama that highlights the fort’s role in coastal defense during the Spanish-American War, including a model of the 1909 vessel General Edward O.C. Ord.
During the Spanish-American War in 1898, the Beaufort River was planted with submarine mines to protect the Port Royal Naval Station on Parris Island.
The event includes remarks by master modeler Dennis Cannady and a first look at a newly acquired historic Ammunition Cart. Mr. Cannady’s work has been viewed in museums by over one million people throughout the United States.

Movie Nights in the Park begin in May and June in Bluffton
Movie Nights in the Park will begin in Bluffton in April. There will also be paid concessions available as well as games and bouncy houses for the kids.
School’s Out celebration June 1 at Bluffton Welcome Center
There will be a pop-up event at the Town of Bluffton Welcome Center, located at 111 Calhoun Street, June 1 starting at 10 a.m. The event is free to the public and there will be a fun day in the park with yard games like Jenga, Connect 4, and cornhole.

Caring hearts of SC Car, Truck, Jeep and Bike Show set for June 13
A new date has been set for the Caring Hearts of South Carolina Car Show due to the weather forecast, according to organizers. The new date will be June 13.
The fourth annual Caring Hearts of SC Car, Truck, Jeep and Bike Show will be held June 13 at the Ridgeland Academy for Career Excellence parking lot from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. The event is free to spectators, but donations are welcome. There will be a registration fee to enter the shows and trophies will be awarded. There will also be a Touch a Truck event which will include police cars, firetrucks and many other vehicles.

Registration filling fast for 2026 Summer Day Camp at James Fisher Memorial Foundation YMCA
Hardeeville, SC — Families looking for a fun, safe, and affordable summer childcare option can now register for the first-ever Summer Day Camp at the James Fisher Memorial Foundation YMCA. Designed for children ages 4–9, the program offers an engaging mix of activities that keep kids active, learning, and having fun all summer long.
Running in weekly sessions from June 15 through July 30, camp takes place Monday through Thursday from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m., with extended care available until 6 p.m. Each week features exciting themes like Carnival Week, Sports Week, and Olympics—creating a fresh and memorable experience for every camper.
Campers will enjoy swimming multiple days each week, games, outdoor play, creative activities, and opportunities to build friendships in a supportive environment. As a brand-new YMCA serving the community, this inaugural summer camp offers families a high-quality, affordable childcare option rooted in the YMCA’s commitment to youth development.
Space is limited and expected to fill quickly. Registration must be completed in person at the James Fisher YMCA, located at 11010 E. Argent Parkway in Ridgeland.

Back-back giveaway July 18 in Ridgeland
A back-back giveaway will be held July 18 at KTM Destiny Center in Ridgeland. There will be backpack giveaways for back to school. The event will take place from Noon until 3p.m. and hosted by the Clementa Pinckney Foundation.

Hampton County’ Watermelon Festival’s 84th – Miss/Master Watermelon Festival Pageant
