Which Fond du Lac roads are closed or delayed this week? Here’s a list

FOND DU LAC – Before you head across Fond du Lac Aug. 24-28, check the cones and orange barrels. Several road projects could slow your drive — and a few streets will be closed altogether.

Here’s what work is planned and what traffic impacts to expect, according to the city’s Engineering & Traffic Division. All work is weather dependent.

Which roads remain open but could have delays?

• Mill and overlay work: Streets will remain open, but drivers could see delays on 17th Street, 19th Street, Vine Street and Seymour Street. Crews will continue curb and gutter replacement on Vine, 19th and 17th streets. Seymour Street paving is expected midweek after milling was completed.

• Prairie Road, Campus Drive and University Drive: Streets will remain open, but delays are possible as utility crews continue sanitary sewer work on University Drive near Campus Drive.

Which roads are closed?

• Stow Street Bridge: Stow Street is closed to pedestrian and vehicle traffic while bridge work continues. Crews will work on structure backfill, storm sewer installation and grading.

• Western Avenue and Macy Street: Western Avenue is closed between Macy and Oak streets. Sanitary sewer installation will continue on Western Avenue between the bridge and Macy Street intersection.

• Elm Street: Elm Street is closed to traffic between South Street and Western Avenue, though no work is expected this week.

• Morris Street: Morris Street is closed from West Ninth to West 12th streets. Crews will remove sidewalks and driveways, and electrical work will continue.

• Griffith Street: Griffith Street is closed from Morris Street to the east dead end. Road excavation could begin later in the week.

• Emma Street: Emma Street is closed from South Seymour Street to the east dead end, though no work is expected this week.

• Drury Place: Drury Place is closed from Hillcrest Lane to Seymour Street. Crews will start with a water main tie-in at Seymour Street, then move to storm sewer main installation.

• County K: County K is closed between State 23 and U.S. 151. Fond du Lac County expects to finish asphalt paving and continue restoration.

• Pioneer Road: Pioneer Road is closed between County V and Fond du Lac Avenue. Roadway excavation will continue.

Can residents and businesses still get access?

Local access will remain available whenever possible, the city said. Residents, business owners, customers and jurors may go past “Road Closed to Thru Traffic” signs to reach properties in affected areas, the city added.

Drivers may not go past “Road Closed” signs or move construction barricades. Parking is not allowed in construction zones during working hours.
